Anti-virus recommended for Apple OSX users
Apple offers three software suggestions
tech2.com | Dec 03, 2008
In what should come as a surprise to no one but Apple users, it seems that the iMac maker has now begun to quietly recommend that any consumer using their OS should also now look into installing an anti-virus.

The security report offers three software suggestions: Intego VirusBarrier X5 and Symantec Norton Anti-Virus 11 for Macintosh, both available from the Apple Online Store, and McAfee VirusScan for Mac which is sold separately.

This latest development in many ways can be taken as a sign of the success of OSX. Ever since Windows Vista was universally panned by consumers for being too system heavy, Apple has seen increased interest in its products. This has however unfortunately resulted in increased targeting from virus and Trojan makers as the user-base install of the OS increases.

Early uptake of antivirus solutions will lead to a healthier computing environment for Mac users and will make them more security conscious leading to lesser chances of getting infected.
